Drama Classes

The Nowra Players have been operating youth drama classes for many years. Classes are offered to primary (minimum year 1 at school) and secondary students aged from 6 to 18 years of age.

The classes are conducted by qualified teachers who have educational qualifications to degree level and have experience in staging plays.

Drama is an excellent way to stimulate imagination and creativity in children as well as improving confidence and self esteem. The sorts of activities experienced encourage cooperation, discipline and self expression.

Students in the drama classes are encouraged to audition for Nowra Players productions and, in recent years, have appeared in Camelot! A Panto, Spamalot – Young at Heart, Vicar of Dibley and Something to Tell You.  The drama students will hold class presentations for family and friends at least once a year.

In addition, the Players host and sponsor the Shoalhaven Youth Drama Awards, an annual event (usually near the end of term 3 at school) where students from local schools perform dramatic pieces before a guest judge.  Prizes are awarded in several categories including best individual and group pieces.
